Possibly still feeling the sting from a tough loss to Pella on Monday, the Pella Christian softball team slid past Clarke on Tuesday night with a 6-5 win in non-conference play.
Despite only allowing four hits to the Indians, it was the nine walks given up by Pella Christian pitcher Paige Blom that kept Clarke in the game.  Those walks turned into three unearned runs and may have led to hair loss and a shortened lifespan, joked Lady Eagles’ Head Coach Nate Van Wyk after the game.
However, when Blom was hitting the strike zone, she was on her game, fanning a total of ten Clarke batters.
Offensively, Pella Christian kept the bats warm, led by Shelby Weaver’s 3-for-4 performance at the plate; and with Morgan Blom, Ashley Van Kooten and Paige Blom each going 2-for-4.
With the win over Clarke, Pella Christian is now 9-4 overall and will face Norwalk on Wednesday night in Little Hawkeye Conference play.
