The Pella City Council has approved a bid package for materials for the new southeast switching station.
Pella City Administrator Mike Nardini says the facility is being constructed to increase reliability in the city’s electrical system by streamlining three transmission lines coming into the city through one facility.
The bids for materials like steel and items such as transformers and breakers totalled $968,000.
