Pella’s Trevor Wood filled up the stat sheet Monday night to help lead the Little Dutch to an impressive 9-3 win over Oskaloosa on the Indians’ home field. Wood went 3-for-4 at the plate, stole three bases, scored two runs, and garnered a walk in Pella’s third victory of the season.
The Little Dutch out-hit the Indians 8-to-6, exploding out to an early lead with a four-run first inning before closing the door on Oskaloosa with a five-run fifth. Schyler Kane and Brett Kingery each batted 1-for-3 on the night, with Kane knocking in two runs, scoring once and drawing two walks; while Kingery also walked and scored twice. Paul Anderson also had a noteworthy performance for Pella, scoring one run while going 1-for-2 at the plate with a walk and a sacrifice hit.
Kingery and Kane also pitched in relief of starter Chris Bandstra, with the three combining to give up no earned runs. The Pella baseball team is now 3-5 overall and travels to Centerville on Tuesday night for a doubleheader against the Big Red.
