Two of the three class 1A softball squads fell in their opening round regional games last night. Twin Cedars traveled to play number nine ranked Lynnville-Sully and fell 11-2 to end their season at 19-13. Pleasantville hung tough but was unable to knock off unbeaten and second ranked Martensdale St. Mary’s last night as the Trojans fell 3-1. Pleasantville struggled for win this season and finished 9-23. That meant Melcher-Dallas was the lone area team to win its class one-A opener as the Saints battered Southeast Warren 8-0. Melcher-Dallas improves to 14-15 on the season and will try to give Martensdale St. Mary’s its first loss of the season, the Blue Devils are 34-0 going into Friday’s night’s game which is scheduled to be played in Martensdale.
