Cory Nikkel, a tight end on the Central College football team, is a nominee for the Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) “Good Works Team”. The former Pella Christian High School standout is one of 132 student-athletes from colleges of all sizes to be nominated for the award, which recognizes those who are actively involved in service work and maintain a good academic standing.

Nikkel has traveled on numerous national and international mission trips, is active in Central’s service-learning and Campus Ministries programs and most recently spent three months in Australia on a service trip through Youth With a Mission (YWAM). In the classroom, he posted a 3.76 grade point average as an English and secondary education major.

Only a total of 22 nominees will be selected to the Good Works Team; 11 from the largest Division I colleges (FBS) and 11 representing Divisions II and II, the NAIA and the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision.
