After a week-long wait for the Pella Christian softball team, postseason play begins tonight with a short trip up the road to Monroe to take on PCM in the opening round of the Class 2A Regional Tournament.

Rain vetoed the only opportunity the two teams would have had to play each other this season, and Lady Eagles’ Head Coach Nate Van Wyk says his team is excited to open the postseason against the Mustangs and try and avenge their 7-2 loss in Monroe in last season’s tournament opener.

“Redemption is good. It gives us an opportunity to go back there and show that we’re better than what we had when we went there last year,” said Van Wyk. “Being such a close opponent, the stakes are going to be high again, emotions will be running, so it’s really a nice way to start off tournament play.”

Pella Christian carries a 17-7 overall record into the contest, while PCM is 14-12. Opening pitch between the Mustangs and Lady Eagles is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Monroe.
