‘Going for Two’; PC Baseball Sets New Team Record

You could say that the Pella Christian batters had “double vision” every time they stepped into the batters box this season, and no, that doesn’t mean they needed to have their eyes checked. What it does mean is that the Eagles seemed to seek out ways to hit for two bases, and they did it more often than any other season in the program’s history.
Pella Christian slugged 77 doubles this past season, easily surpassing the previous team record of 54. That number gave the Eagles the most two-baggers in the Little Hawkeye Conference, and put them at fifth for the most doubles in all of Class 2-A – according to QuikStats Iowa.
The Pella Christian baseball team tallied a combined 300 hits this past season, meaning that just over one in every four hits resulted in the batter standing on second base. That hard-hitting approach led the Eagles to a 23-14 overall record in 2011, and a second-place finish in the conference standings.
