Applications are open for funds for projects to improve water quality and help with flood control.

The Watershed Improvement Review Board will grant between $743,000 and $1.2 million for projects including agricultural runoff and drainage, flood prevention, stream bank erosion, municipal discharge, storm water runoff, industrial discharge and livestock runoff. Each project can apply for up to $500,000 over five years.

The funds are available to local watershed improvement committees, soil and water conservation districts, public water supply utilities, county conservation boards, cities and counties.

The deadline to apply is August 5th.
