Mandy DeMeulenaere put together a complete effort in the batter’s box and the pitcher’s circle, and the Pella softball team accomplished one of their season goals; defeating South Tama 3-0 on Wednesday to claim an outright Little Hawkeye Conference title.

DeMeulenaere limited the Trojans to just two hits in the shut-out, striking out five South Tama batters and walking three. She aided her cause with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate, as one of three Lady Dutch players to notch two hits.

Rachel Greving also went 2-for-4 – including a double – but it was Whitney Williams that gave Pella the push they needed to secure the win. Williams was 2-for-3 on the night, including a triple that scored two of the team’s three runs.

Sole ownership of the conference title comes courtesy of an 11-3 league record, as the Lady Dutch improved to 18-7 overall entering this weekend’s Class 3A Regional Tournament.
