About 50 people turned out at Monarch’s last night to hear former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty speak. The Republican presidential candidate is currently in Iowa on his Road to Results Tour.

Pawlenty’s speech centered around his track record as Governor and his ideas on tax and energy policy.

He was asked why he has elected not to sign a pledge as put forth by the Family Leader Organization, the group’s “Marriage Vow”.

Pawlenty said while he agreed with most of the tenets of the pledge in principle, the language was not as “loving” as he would have liked.

He added that he’s not against signing pledges, but wants to make sure they fully reflect his personal values, not those of another group.
