Hoping to keep a strong conclusion to their season rolling, the Pella High baseball team travels to Norwalk tonight to take on the Little Hawkeye Conference champion Warriors in the opening round of the Class 3A District Baseball Tournament.

Since splitting a two-game series with Norwalk in Pella on June 17th, the Little Dutch have rattled off 12 wins in 15 games, including victories in their final two games of the regular season. Pella Head Coach Aaron Reasland says he expects nothing less than another close game between his team and the Warriors.

“You can count on a close ball game,” says Reasland. “We’re known to play teams close in the postseason – we’ve done that every single year [since I’ve been here], and you can count on it being another close ball game. The team that plays clean baseball and executes the little details throughout the game will be the winner, and we hope that’s us.”

Norwalk won the season series with the Little Dutch two games to one, but the winning team never scored more than five runs in any of the games, and the greatest margin of victory was three runs. Pella enters postseason play with an overall record of 19-14; while Norwalk is 26-11, following a 6-3 loss to Carlisle on Wednesday.

The opening pitch of the Class 3A District Tournament opener between Pella and Norwalk is slated for 7:00 p.m. tonight. You can hear the game broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS with Jamie Brockman live in Norwalk with the call.
