The city of Pella is seeing more construction this summer than it has in many years, and progress is going well.

Public Works Director Denny Buyert says big gains were made over the last couple weeks with plenty of rain-free days.

University Street near Central College is opened for the time being after completion of underground drain work, though it will be closed off and on throughout the summer as Central continues its beautification project.

The second phase of North Main is set to begin this week and paving has been completed between Washington and Lincoln streets.

And the reconstruction project on University near the high school is on schedule and still set to reopen by the time school starts.
