Marion County Conservation Officer Ken Kenyon reminds anglers to be mindful of what they’re using for bait in area lakes. He says the possibility of a problem arises if shad, the species commonly used for bait found below the spillway, are confused, and a young silver carp is used for bait on the lake. He says the carp are known for jumping, and can present a hazard to boaters. To ensure the sliver carp remain below the spillway, Kenyon asks people to make sure they’re not using live bait on the lake.
