As public service departments at all levels of government continue to find ways to trim costs, the Iowa Department of Transportation is reviewing its operating hours for snow plows in the winter.

DOT spokesperson Dena Gray-Fisher says the department is looking for new efficiencies, which could include reducing, though not eliminating, plow services to the state’s lesser-traveled roads.

She says no decisions have been made on what roads may be affected.
