Around this time last summer, the athletics program at Pella Christian High School was undergoing a transition, as long-time Athletic Director Verlan Nikkel had retired, and Brad Engbers officially assumed his position as the A.D. for the Eagles’ athletic programs.  Now gearing up for his second year in the position, Engbers says he’s looking forward to building on his experiences from the previous school year.

“I think we’ve had a great year.  We’ve had a lot of success athletically,” said Engbers.  “I’ve just been very impressed with our athletes and our coaching staff, and have enjoyed my first year and am looking forward to the second year coming up.”

Prior to returning to his alma mater, Engbers had been a teacher and coach for 16 years at Chicago Christian in Palos Hills, Illinois.  He will continue to have a presence on the sideline this winter for the Eagles, returning as an assistant coach for the Pella Christian girls basketball team.
