The Pella Food Shelf is as busy as ever says Coordinator Melissa Zula. She says they’re currently serving 70-90 families each week or about 300-400 individuals. Zula says donations slow down in the summer and they’re purchasing more from the Iowa Food Bank. Food drives are currently going on at the Edward Jones Financial office and the Third Reformed Church in Pella. Acceptable items include most non-perishable grocery items and non food items like toilet paper. If you’d like to volunteer, contact Peace Lutheran Church at 628-2835.
