Pella’s football season debut has the Little Dutch at home tonight to face an opponent from a familiar school – Newton. Pella head coach Jay McKinstrey says the Cardinals were dealing with several adjustments and changes last season, but expects them to be a tough opponent to open the season.

“They had a nice team last year. I think they were very young, and they had some adjustments coming down to Class 3A,” said McKinstrey. “They certainly have some very good players that are going to be challenging for our defense to stop and for our offense to move against. We expect a great football game tonight from Newton.”

The Little Dutch will be making a number of adjustments themselves, as they look to reload the entire offense and a good portion of the defense. Pella defeated Newton last season 35-14.
