A season-opening loss, marred by inconsistent play, has the Pella volleyball team re-evaluating what the girls need to do to improve their play. Head coach Bob Fessler says making mistakes on their own side of the net is the primary focus at this point in the season.

“We will really need to clean up our unforced errors – missed serves, attack errors, things of that nature,” said Fessler. “We just can’t give good teams so many points. That’s just not going to work for us, so we have to clean up that end.”

The Lady Dutch won’t catch any breaks in terms of a softer schedule – they return to competition tonight in a quad they are hosting at Pella Christian High School that includes Bondurant-Farrar, Gilbert, and Dallas Center-Grimes. The competition is being held at Pella Christian while the flood-damaged gym floor at Pella High is replaced. The opening match is set for 5:30 p.m. tonight.
