It was a picturesque homecoming for PCM, as the Mustangs routed Clarke-Osceola 49-0 to earn their first shutout of the year. Senior tailback Hutch Burns led the way with another 100-yard performance and scored a career-high four touchdowns.

Head coach Greg Bonnett said that even he was amazed at the way Burns ran the football Friday night. Bonnet was also pleased with the work of backup quarterback Nate Vandewall, who went 9-for-11 and threw two touchdowns. Starting quarterback Joel Wiggins added a touchdown but was replaced by Vandewall in the second half to give the junior some playing time.

The Mustangs were just as impressive on defense, allowing just 64 yards of total offense – 57 of which came on the ground. Alex Amadeo and Sean O’Conner led the way for the PCM defense and Bryce Wignall picked up another interception. The Mustangs scored early and often putting up 35 points in the first half, scoring on five of six possessions.

Next week PCM travels to Pella Christian to take on the Eagles in a battle for first place in 2A District 8.
