Water levels are down at Lake Red Rock and other area ponds and streams following a drier and hotter-than-usual month of August.

Currently the Lake is at 742 feet after reaching levels above 775 feet earlier in the year. State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says overall, the summer has been hot and dry, especially July and August.

He says those conditions could mean a cooler, wetter fall season.
