If you’ve seen brown bats around your home, garage or barn lately, it’s likely they’re searching for a place to call home for the winter. Central College Associate Biology Professor Russ Benedict says this is the time of year when the mammals typically venture out to find suitable spots for winter hibernation. He says they typically find their way into a home or garage by mistake, ond rarely return to that spot. To get them out, he says to wait until they’ve become tired of flying, about 20 minutes or so, and then with gloves they can be picked up and released.
