A valiant effort in the second half was not enough to rally from a 3-0 deficit, as the Central College women’s soccer team fell 3-2 at Monmouth College Wednesday evening.

The Dutch trailed 2-0 at intermission, and the Fighting Scots quickly added another score early in the second half before Central’s offense could get rolling. One of Central’s two goals came from sophomore defender Kelsey Schippers, a Pella High graduate.

Central has scored 17 goals from eight different players this season and has outscored opponents 14-4 in the second period. The Central women’s soccer team is now 4-2 overall and hosts the College of Saint Mary on Saturday in Pella.
