The Knoxville Public Works Department says work is almost finished on Phase III of the West Area Relief Sewer Project. Because of that, the intersection of Washington and Henry will be open tomorrow, while the Washington/Montgomery intersection will be closing then. The Robinson/Henry intersection will also soon be closing. Once closed, Public Works Director Jeff May says that the contractor has 14 days to complete work and open the intersection back up.

In a separate project, the Public Works Department says that the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad company will be working on railroad tracks in Knoxville this upcoming week. As a result, the following railroad crossings will be closed for a period of time

Roche Street – September 2-September 6
First Street – September 6
Second Street – September 6
Grant Street – September 7-September 7/8
McKinley Street – September 1-September 8

In addition, the private crossing to Marion County Co-Op will be closed on September 7, and will reopen either late September 7 or early September 8. That project is going on in conjunction with the Grant Street maintenance.
