G-40 west of Pleasantville is now open after summer safety improvements. The Marion County Secondary Roads Department received funds from the state for the project after the road was designated as a “high risk rural road,” meaning a road that has a significant history of accidents. County Engineer Roger Schletzbaum says that the project includes a new bridge to replace a bridge that was to be load-limited in the near future, and a new, safer corridor. He says that they are very excited that it’s opened up, and it should provide for a much better roadway.
