Pella Christian put the complete package on display Friday night in Truro, as the Eagles’ football team excelled in every aspect of the game in a 43-0 triumph over Interstate-35.

Excellent kick coverage by Pella Christian and a bobbled catch pinned the Roadrunners on their own one yard line, and four plays later, a high snap on a punt that sailed out of the back of the end zone gave the Eagles a quick 2-0 lead.

With the special teams and defensive units already looking impressive, the offense joined the party, as the Pella Christian scorched Interstate-35 with a series of crisp passes and slashing runs.

Caleb Morgan scored on runs of 3, 4, and 28 yards; and Will Vande Voort hauled in a 12-yard touchdown reception to give the Eagles a 30-0 lead at halftime.

Those two would each put up one more score in the second half as the continuous clock started rolling with 6:14 to go in the third quarter and made for a quick second half.

Pella Christian’s defense was dominant, allowing just 56 total yards of offense, and completely shutting down the Roadrunners’ trademark running game.

The emergence of a reliable passing game made the Eagles tough to defend; with quarterback Adam Howerzyl completing 11-of-14 passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns – both to Vande Voort – while Caleb Morgan rolled up 140 yards on 23 carries in the ground attack, with four touchdowns.

The 43-0 victory gave Interstate-35 its first loss of the season, and gives Pella Christian a 4-1 overall record and a 3-0 District mark, entering a likely clash for the District title next Friday; when undefeated PCM comes to Pella.
