Weather permitting; the Pella cross country team will finally get its first crack at official competition today, as they will be one of a handful of local teams competing at the Grinnell Invitational.  Little Dutch head coach Doug Cutler says both of his squads will run against teams that they are likely to face again on the road to the State meet.

“The girls will get to see Benton and Williamsburg, which are very important opponents for us see. We have a great deal of respect for those programs. On the guys’ side we’ll see Grinnell and Knoxville will be there again,” says Cutler.

“The competition between Knoxville, Grinnell and ourselves the last few years has been just such a privilege to watch. If I can stand back sometimes and just appreciate how these three teams have pushed each other, it is really neat. And I think the girls are going to be seeing more of that in the area very soon.”

Along with familiar rival Knoxville, cross country squads from Pella Christian and PCM are also competing at the meet in Grinnell.  After having the first two meets rained out, it appears that the athletes will finally get to run; as the forecast is calling for sunny skies and mild temperatures.
