The Pleasantville football continued to show progress, but suffered another tough loss Friday night, falling to Des Moines Christian 38-6.

Lions’ quarterback Austin Stubbs moved Des Moines Christian efficiently down the field on their first drive of the game with a few passes and runs, but the Trojan defense stiffened up inside the five yard line to force the Lions into a missed field goal.

The Trojan fans got to see a brand new starter at quarterback as Jake Burgett is still nursing an ankle injury. Freshman Hagen Fouch tried his best to lead the Trojans, starting off by throwing a 30-yard pass to Chris Peden and then a pass to tight end Kendall Clarke which made the score 14-6 with just a few minutes left to go in the first half.

The Lions scored again to make it 21-6 at the half and did not look back from there. Two more touchdowns in the second half and a short field goal put the game out of reach at 38-6.

Coach Tim Koerselmen thought that the defense hit harder than any other game this season and said was proud of Hagan Fouch for stepping into the role of starting varsity quarterback as only a freshman.

You can catch a delayed broadcast of Friday night’s game on AM 1320 KNIA on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The Pleasantville Trojans are 0-5 on the season and 0-3 in District play. They’ll travel to Greenfield to face Nodaway Valley next Friday.
