The excitement of a new football season quickly turned into nervousness and tension for Central College fans on Saturday afternoon, and the Dutch eventually dropped a 31-28 road decision to Wisconsin-Oshkosh.  Trevor Castle called the game live on 92.1 KRLS.

Central’s Mike Furlong fumbled the opening kickoff, and the Titans’ Charlie Weissman scampered 29 yards on the next play for a 7-0 lead.  After stopping the Dutch, Oshkosh quarterback Nate Wara hit Caleb Voss on an 84-yard scoring strike, and it was 14-0 less than five minutes into the game.

The Dutch trailed by as many as 17 points late in the third quarter, but rallied within three, and had the football near midfield with less than two minutes to go. It was Snead’s third interception of the game, and Central’s fifth turnover.

The senior signal-caller finished 23-of-40 for 291 yards and two touchdowns.  He also led the team in rushing with 26 carries for 66 yards and two scores.  Jeremy Snead caught both of his big brother’s touchdown passes, and had nine grabs overall for 98 yards.

You can hear more about the game, and Saturday’s upcoming home opener against Augustana, when Dutch Coach Jeff McMartin joins us tonight at 7:00 pm live at Applebee’s for the Central College Coaches Corner on KNIA/KRLS.
