Law enforcement officials are asking people to be aware of a phone scam disguising itself as a message from Wells Fargo Bank. The automated phone call tells a customer that their credit card or bank account has been closed, and they should punch that number into the phone to reactivate it. Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat says that if you get this call, you should hang up and talk to your bank directly. If calling your bank, use a legitimate source to ensure you are talking to them directly, such as the number on the back of your debit or credit card. Don’t ever give vital information out over the phone.
