Central College’s women’s and men’s soccer teams each closed out regular season play last night against the University of Dubuque; with the women notching a tie, and the men falling to the Spartans.

In the women’s contest, the Dutch led 2-0 at the intermission, but Dubuque scored two goals late in the second half to tie the game, with neither team scoring through two overtime periods.

The tie gives the Central women a 10-6-1 overall record – the third best in the program’s history – and leaves them at 3-4-1 in Iowa Conference play. They’ll play in their first league tournament since 2007 this coming Saturday.

In the men’s contest, both teams took 19 shots, but Dubuque found the net three times and Central could convert on none of their tries, falling 3-0.

The Dutch are 9-7-1 overall and 3-4-1 in league play, earning a spot in the upcoming Iowa Conference Tournament for the tenth consecutive season.
