Pella Fire Department, Pella Rural Fire Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a grass and brush fire at approximately 1 pm Tuesday.

The fire started in the back yard of the residence at 2097 Iron Eagle Landing. After burning trash on Sunday, hot embers were picked up by strong winds out of the south, spreading into timber to the north.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire before it could cause any damage. Pella Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkom says a fire like this is a reminder that conditions are still very dry and windy and burns of any kind are not recommended.
