Knoxville took control early on and defeated Pella in the first round of the Class 3A volleyball Regional three games to none 25/18, 26/24, and 25/23 last night. The Panthers worked on trying to take away many of the things that Pella was successful at in last Tuesday’s match with the Panthers. Coach Eric Fee said not only did they do that, it was also one of the best matches his team has played this season. Knoxville also benefitted from 27 unforced errors by Pella, something that Coach Bob Fessler said was too much to overcome. The combination of Jess Jones and Chambray Daugherty made for a nice one/two punch up front for the Panthers as Jones had 13 kills and Daugherty put down ten. Brooke Chrisman was 17-for-18 serving and Meredith Cunningham had 23 assists, while Emily Lee came up with 16 digs. For Pella Kim Korver had ten kills and Shannon Ewing had eight, Katie Sunderman had 17 assists, and Taelor Rempe had 17 digs. Knoxville is now 17-19 and advances to the Regional Semi-Final Thursday night in Williamsburg to face second ranked Solon, while Pella finishes the season at 10-25.
