The Knoxville School Board will consider giving retirement incentives to staff and faculty at the conclusion of this school year. Knoxville Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says any kind of incentives can be paid through the management fund, while teacher salaries are paid through the general fund, which is usually the more stressed fund. Flack says that usually retired teachers are replaced by less-experienced teachers who are paid less, easing the general fund. Flack says there are changes to incentive laws coming, which he says the board will look at more as they consider the incentives.
