No one was injured in a fire early this morning that engulfed a home north of Pershing. At about 4:10 this morning, Knoxville Township Fire Department responded to a call at 1749 170th Ave at a report of visible flames. When they arrived, they found that two people that were inside the house escaped safely. The fire spread, spreading to a car adjacent to the house and blowing up a propane tank.

Knoxville Fire & Rescue, Indiana Township Fire, Clay Township Fire, and Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies also responded to the scene. There were no injuries. Marion County Records show the deed to the property belonging to JD and Carla Karns. The cause remains under investigation.
