The PCM football team continued its winning ways last night with a 42-7 win over District 7 foe CMB in the first round of the Iowa High School football playoffs.

Streamed live on kniakrls.com, The Mustangs got off to a slow start offensively, scoring just once in the first quarter, but were able to get things going in the second frame with great defensive plays by Andrew McCarthy and Alex Amadeo that led to offensive scores.

The Mustangs were led by quarterback Joel Wiggins, who was sharp in his second game back after missing two weeks due to a pulled hamstring. Wiggins threw three touchdowns in the game and ran for two as he contributed to all but one Mustang touchdown.

Tight end Jordan Van Roekel and wide receivers Ethan Kain and Bo Clymer caught touchdown passes and Hutch Burns added one on the ground. Burns helped set the tempo of the offense with 221 rushing yards.

With the win PCM is 10-0 and will advance to the second round of the playoffs to play Fort Dodge St. Edmond on Monday night. St. Edmond stopped Clarinda 35-12 last night to advance. The game will be played in Monroe.
