The latter part of the Pella High cross country schedule certainly feels like déjà vu, as the Dutch are again running on courses they had just competed on in previous weeks. Pella wrapped up the girls and boys team titles at Norwalk on Monday and will again find themselves at Pine Knolls Country Club in Knoxville for their respective Regional and District meets.

Pella High head coach Doug Cutler says while it’s always nice for his athletes to be familiar with a given course, he sees a greater benefit for all of his runners.

“Most importantly, it really helps the kids set good goals. They can set realistic goals of what they think they can accomplish; they know exactly what it means to run a certain time, to run with certain runners,” says Cutler.

“That’s probably the most exciting thing is that they’re going to get to see exactly how much they’ve improved from the last time we ran”

The Pella boys cross country team was ranked first in Class 3A, and the girls team eighth in the last Iowa Track and Field Coaches poll.
