Pella rolled to a 56-6 win over Fort Madison last night to close the regular season and finish undefeated in district play. Austin Fuller was a force that couldn’t be stopped early, rushing for over 100 yards in the first quarter while scoring two touchdowns – the first of which was a 42 yard-run that put Pella ahead 7-0.

With Pella leading just 7-0, Fort Madison broke loose on a 35-yard run to Pella’s 35-yard line, but the ball came loose and Nathan Clayberg recovered; returning it to Fort Madison’s 39-yard line. That led to Fuller’s second touchdown, a 39-yard run, putting Pella ahead 14-0

Sam Davis added two first-half touchdowns on runs of 21 and 55 yards, respectively, Taylor Cox had a 50-yard punt return and Josh De Waard scored on a 21-yard run to push Pella to a 42-0 halftime lead. With the starters resting the entire second half, Chris Brogden added a 62-yard run in the third quarter and Josh Hileman finished it off with a 17-yard run late in the game.

The Little Dutch racked up 415 yards of offense for the game, while running just 28 plays, and 375 of those yards came via a punishing rushing attack. Fuller led the charge with 139 yards on seven carries, while Davis rushed for 99 yards on just three carries.

Pella finished the regular season 8-1 overall – claiming the Class 3A District 7 Championship – and will begin postseason play on Wednesday when they play host to Perry.
