Pella Regional Health Center is sponsoring a panel discussion next week entitled “Survive and Thrive in the World of MDRO”. MDRO stands for multi-drug resistant organisms. Pella Regional Nurse Emily Haase says MDROs are a relatively new phenomenon and stem from resistance to certain anti-biotics. The panel discussion will focus on why some bacteria have become resistant and what we can all do to help stop the spread of MDROs. University of Iowa Microbiologist Nancy Coulter will be the featured speaker. The Panel Discussion will include Brenda Versteeg, Nurse at Pella Community Schools, Leslie Duncan, Athletic Trainer at Central College and also survivors of MDRO. The event is Thursday October 20th from 6-8 pm at the Pella Memorial Building.
