The Pella volleyball team returns to action today after what has felt like an incredibly long layoff. The last competition for the Lady Dutch came on September 22nd in a loss to Centerville. Hopes are that the time off has given Pella a chance to regroup and try and turn around a team that has slid to a 2-14 overall record.

The Lady Dutch are in Newton today to take part in the Cardinal Invitational, and head coach Bob Fessler hopes that matches with Carlisle, Harlan and Knoxville will help his team take the next step in the right direction.

“Those teams are going to give us good competition, and we’ll have our hands full, but we also know what we need to do,” says Fessler. “At this point, we need to be more worried about ourselves than our competition; making sure we take care of the things we know we can control. That’s where we’re going to see our biggest strides right now.”

Following today’s action in Newton, the Pella volleyball team returns to their Little Hawkeye Conference schedule in search of their first league victory, when they take on Grinnell on Tuesday.
