While no official playoff spots have been clinched there are at least three area football squads that would be considered “locks” for the postseason with three games to go. In class 3A District seven, Pella is the lone remaining unbeaten team in district play with a 4-0 record. In class 2A P-C-M has all but clinched a spot in the postseason with Friday win over Pella Christian. The 6-0 Mustangs still have to play Clarinda, which is this Friday, I-35, and Bondurant-Farrar. Melcher-Dallas is the other football squad with a perfect record, and unless the unforeseen happens, the Saints also will likely get a playoff nod. The Saints have a showdown with Moravia this Friday for what likely will be the district championship.
