While few, if any, high school football coaches would admit to a guaranteed victory, the Pella Christian football team has about the next closest thing tonight, as they’ll take on a Clarke team that has only won a single game since the 2008 season.

Despite trying to prepare for the playoffs by facing the last-place team in the district, Pella Christian head coach Rich Kacmarynski says it’s still important to play well tonight to help prepare for next week.

“I think it’s important to finish the season with some momentum. It’s a quick turnaround from Friday night to Wednesday [for the playoffs], so if you don’t play well to end the regular season, it kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth and is a bit of a momentum-breaker going into next week,” says Kacmarynski.

“Getting a solid victory is something we want to do, plus it’s just how we try and play at Pella Christian – to play our best every night – and let the chips fall where they may.”

With a win, Pella Christian would be 6-1 in league play and claim the No. 2 seed in Class 2A District 8. You can hear tonight’s game broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS with Eric Gotschall providing the play-by-play, starting at 7:00 p.m.
