As the winter sports season gets closer…three of the four teams at Knoxville High School this winter will be under a new coach. The boy’s basketball squad will be coached by Jeff Larson. Larson is a Knoxville native playing on the 1980 state runner-up squad and served as the girl’s varsity assistant. Ron Peterson will lead the wrestling squad. Peterson has won two traditional State Championships over his career at Clarksville and Cedar Rapids Prairie and coached for 13 seasons at Simpson College. The Bowling Squad is being led this season by Matt Lopez. Lopez takes over a boys team that qualified for its first State Tournament last season. The only program that has a coach returning from last season is the Girls Basketball Squad where Jim Utiermarkt will start his fifth season as head coach.
