This fall was equal parts improbable and thrilling for the Central College women’s soccer team, and in the future may be viewed as a turning point for the program. Though a 10-7-1 overall record hardly seems exceptional, it marks an incredible turnaround for the Central women.

First-year head coach Mike Kobylinski found the right combination of youth and experience on the roster to assemble a solid season; despite recording a 2-13-1 season the year before. In fact, Central’s ten wins was more victories than the last three years combined, and was the third-best mark in the program’s history.

The Dutch also reached the Iowa Conference Tournament for the first time since 2007, and gave fans quite a show along the way – scoring five come-from-behind victories over the course of the season. The team will lose four seniors to graduation, including Pella native Alex Kleis, who was a defender for the Central women.
