The City of Knoxville is starting to prepare the budget for Fiscal Year 2012-2013. City Manager Harold Stewart says that the budget must be turned into the state by March. He’s directed staff to start preparing what they think they’ll be needing for the next fiscal year. After staff gets their figures together, Stewart says he’ll talk about each department with the City Council, highlighting what projects they see upcoming in the future. Stewart says that if commercial property tax rollbacks pass the state legislature, the city budget could be affected negatively by up to half a million dollars.
