An opportunity to get away from Pella for a few days and face some entirely new competition has been key in the development of this season’s Pella Christian girls basketball team.

Lady Eagles’ head coach Kevin Van Maanen says his team worked well together this summer in a trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan.

“[In] late June we went to Calvin College, which was a fun trip for us. We competed against all the other Christian schools up in that neighborhood, and did very well up there,” said Van Maanen. “Western Christian was up there too, and both teams from Iowa represented very well at Calvin.”

Pella Christian is hoping the increased time together in the offseason can be converted into wins on the basketball court. The Lady Eagles’ next contest is December 2nd against Roland-Story.
