Mount Pleasant awaits the Pella High boys basketball team this weekend in the season debut for the Little Dutch, and fans will need to keep their programs handy throughout the opening game – and likely the season – as Pella’s line-up will feature a revolving cast.

Head coach Mark Core says, much like last season, the Little Dutch are a deep team and will likely use all fifteen players on the roster in a given night.  Saturday’s game will certainly begin with five players on the floor for Pella, but Core says he’s not getting too wrapped up in who his “starting” line-up will be.

“That line-up’s going to change from game-to-game, and I think people are also going to see changes in the pattern of how we finish games.  I think your finishing line-up is more important than your starting line-up,” says Core.

“That’s really where our focus is right now is on who we would want on the floor at the end of a close game.”

Core adds that, by design, his team has not used the same five players in the practice line-up on back-to-back days in the preseason, and says beyond the fifteen players he’s allowed to suit for each game, he’ll likely be rotating even more players in and out of the Varsity line-up throughout the season.

On Saturday, the Pella boys basketball team begins the new season where last year’s ended – on the road against Mount Pleasant.
