Though they couldn’t come away with a victory in their season opener, the Pella High girls basketball team has certainly showcased a facet of their game that is expected to be a mainstay this season – a dominant post presence.

“We have a really good post player – Reagan Cooper – who I think will command a lot of attention down there [near the basket],” says Pella head coach Jerod Garland.

“She’s very good around the basket with either hand. We think that she’s going to be a good scorer for us down low; and we also think that if teams try and take her away, she’s a good enough passer – and we have good enough shooters – that we can counter-balance that a little bit.”

Cooper put up a team-high 18 points in Tuesday night’s loss to Ballard. The Pella girls basketball team is off through the Thanksgiving holiday, before returning to competition Monday night for their home opener against Williamsburg.
