A common measure of success for a high school running back is a 1,000-yard season. What does that mean, then, for two 1,000-yard backs? That’s exactly what the Pella Christian football team accomplished this season, as the backfield duo of Caleb Morgan and Nate Tvedt each averaged over 100 yards rushing per game in the ten games the Eagles played this season.
Tvedt reached 1031 yards on 177 carries, while Morgan just crossed the milestone by tallying 1006 rushing yards on 165 carries. Both backs were quick to credit a strong and talented offensive line for their success. Early in the season, the offensive line and coaching staft had set having Tvedt and Morgan eclipse 1,000 yards each as a goal for the season.
The pair also combined for 25 rushing touchdowns for Pella Christian. The total rushing numbers put Tvedt and Morgan at third and fourth, respectively, in Class 2A District 8.
Pella Christian finished the 2011 season with a 7-3 record, finishing runner-up in the District and again reaching the Class 2A Playoffs.
