IIAC Slate Continues at Cornell Today for Central Hoops Teams

The Iowa Conference schedule continues today for the Central College basketball teams. The Dutch face Cornell College in Mount Vernon, and women’s head coach Mike Jacobsma says the league schedule is unrelenting.

“Everybody on our schedule in the Iowa Conference is a tough opponent, and you’ve got to be ready to play; but it still comes back to how we defend, [and] how we pressure the ball and do our things,” says Jacobsma.

“I’ll put us up against anybody, but we’ve got to get better at those things to start putting ‘Ws’ in the column.”

Meanwhile, men’s coach Mike Boschee is riding high after Wednesday’s win over Buena Vista.

“I like our attitude. I like coaching this group. We don’t have any – what call – ‘issues’ outside of the lines,” says Boschee.

“They’re a good group of guys, they’re competitive, they want to win, [and] they want to be champions. Wherever the chips fall at the end of the year, I’ll take it, because I love coaching this group.”

The Central women’s basketball team is 3-2 and 0-1 in the Iowa Conference, while the Dutch men are 4-1 and 1-0 in league play. Tip-off in Mount Vernon is at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon.
