Winless no more, the Knoxville girl’s basketball squad got balanced scoring and controlled the game for a 40-34 win over Chariton last night. The Panthers held a nine point lead at the half while forcing the Chargers into 12 first half turnovers. Knoxville also made enoupoh three point shots to distance itself for most of the game. Coach Jim Utiermarkt said contributions from girls who had not been key factors finally stepped up. Ellie Hawkshead led the Panthers with 12 points while Hanna Rosenkranz and Marissa Lenger both scored nine. Knoxville moves to 1-7 on the season and will try to win back-to-back games heading into break tonight at Grinnell, a game you can hear live on AM 1320 KNIA starting with the pre game at six.
